 PDK gearbox on a classic Porsche 911 - 1

Dutch studio KCPerformance crossed the PDK gearbox with a classic Porsche car. The so-called Restomods based on Porsche 911 sports cars are being done by many these days, but even in this niche there are masters who managed to surprise the market.

KCPerformance has announced a project to improve the classic German two-door with an air-cooled engine, offering to equip it with the brand's own PDK robotic transmission.

„The Robot“ it's usually only combined with modern engines, but now new know-how has managed to make it work with an engine that's downright ancient by today's standards. KCPerformance designs and manufactures its own adapter plate to connect the engine and transmission.

The company's specialists also installed a new flywheel with an integrated crankshaft position sensor and an electronically controlled throttle body. The throttle body itself is part Porsche, but uses a pedal from an E90 BMW 3er.

In addition to the electronic throttle, KCPerformance equips the engine with advanced fuel injection and electronic ignition, as well as several other sensors. Tuning specialists are ready to update every engine and gearbox management program, ensuring both smooth responses and the most aggressive settings in the spirit of the GT3 RS.

If you want to keep the interior in its original condition, KCPerformance can leave the original Tiptronic shifter or install a more modern PDK selector, and if you install a modern steering wheel, you can use paddle shifters from the steering wheel.

It took the studio 1,500 hours to implement the first PDK transmission, but now converting customer machines will take much less time. It won't be cheap - installing a robotic gearbox on a classic Porsche 911 will cost €50,000.
