The new patent application of the brand is dedicated to a smartphone with a "movable" flexible display that can recognize fingerprints on more than one area of its surface. The design of the innovation itself also looks unusual, reminiscent of the previously presented corporate concept in a slider form factor.
The document published by the US USPTO contains a description of a conceptual technology that allows scanning of fingerprints in several areas of the screen at the same time. The patent itself is titled “Controlling the Sequential Arrangement of the On-Screen Fingerprint Scanner (fod) of a Foldable Multi-Scanner Device”.
The developer suggests placing several optical sensors under the surface of the display. Judging by the illustrations, this will allow the device to unlock both when opening and when shrinking, when part of the screen “creeps“ on the back panel of the smartphone.
The design of the model presented in the patent is reminiscent of the Motorola Rizr with a “roll-up” screen. It is not yet known whether the company plans to start production and sales of such a device.
