Four people were killed and several wounded in a shooting near a mosque in Oman, reports "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.
The attack is one of the rare security breaches in one of the most stable countries in the Middle East.
"All security measures and procedures have been taken to deal with the situation, the procedures for collecting evidence and investigation are completed,'' the police said.
The US Embassy in Muscat reported that it is following up on information about the incident in Wadi al-Kabir - a province of the capital.
"American citizens should remain vigilant, follow local news and comply with the instructions of local authorities", the diplomatic mission states.
Oman has maintained its neutrality in the troubled region and has mediated various conflicts, including between the United States and Iran.
