A girl attacked her classmates with a knife in an elementary school in the Czech Republic, reports "Xinhua". The incident took place in the town of Domažlice, located in the western part of the country. Two children were injured, reports News.bg.
„Our teams are on site at OU 'Komenskeho 17' in Domazhlice, after, according to initial information, one of the students attacked her classmates with a knife. Two children were injured, and their parents were promptly notified. The girl suspect was taken into custody within minutes," the police informed.
The injured children are not life-threatening and have received the necessary medical attention. Another child who went into shock was also examined by the medical teams.
At this stage there is no threat to the other students and staff, and numerous police officers and forensic experts are working on the scene, the law enforcement authorities added.
The school has announced that it is suspending classes for the upper grades due to an “extraordinary event”.
„Students were instructed to leave the school in a safe manner. All children are safe. Classes in the lower grades continue as scheduled,” the message says.
Education Minister Mikuláš Bek said that violence in schools is “absolutely unacceptable.“
„We are in contact with our colleagues in Domažlice and are ready to provide them with full support,“ he assured.
Police are investigating the incident on suspicion of committing a violent crime or other criminal act.
