Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Rome today for the second round of indirect nuclear talks with the United States, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Araghchi's profile on the communication application "Telegram" posted a video of him getting off the plane after landing in the Italian capital.
The Iranian minister and US envoy for Middle East affairs Steve Witkoff will hold indirect talks with the help of mediators from Oman. The second round of talks will take place a week after the first in the Omani capital Muscat, which both sides described as constructive.
US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with military consequences if the talks fail and has said his main goal is to prevent the Islamic Republic from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Araghchi has expressed his readiness to make concessions on its nuclear program and uranium enrichment levels. He stressed that his country does not want to develop an atomic bomb. In return, Tehran wants the lifting of US sanctions.
However, according to Araghchi, Iran's possession of nuclear technology is non-negotiable.
Other contentious issues include Iran's missile program and policy in the Middle East.
