Germany's intelligence services warned today that sabotage believed to be linked to Russia almost caused a plane crash in Germany this year, DPA reported, BTA writes.
The case is from July and it is about a package that caught fire in a logistics center of the DHL company in Leipzig and thus caused a fire in the cargo container.
Thomas Haldenwang, chairman of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, told MPs during a parliamentary session that only luck prevented the package from igniting when it was already on board the plane.
The shipment, which arrived in Germany from the Baltic Sea region, is believed to have remained in the warehouse after the flight it was supposed to take was delayed, DPA has learned.
The German television stations AER De and ES EWE reported in September that two arrests had been made in Lithuania and Poland in connection with the case.
