Israel Strikes Beirut Suburb, Five Tel Aviv Soldiers Killed in South Lebanon - 1

Israel carried out several strikes late last night on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which is a bastion of the Lebanese Shiite movement "Hezbollah", AFP reported, citing BTA, citing Lebanese media.

The strikes came after the Israeli army issued an evacuation call for residents of four areas.

"You are in the vicinity of ``Hezbollah'' installations and facilities that Israeli forces will soon attack. You should immediately evacuate these buildings and those in the neighborhood and stay at least 500 meters away,'' an army spokesman wrote on the social network X.

After a year of fighting in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army took action against the Lebanese movement "Hezbollah".

Israel began its military operation in the Gaza Strip after on October 7 last year, fighters of the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" carried out an unprecedented attack on the Jewish state.

The Israeli army announced the death of five Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

There, Israeli forces have been conducting a ground offensive against “Hezbollah” for several weeks. Seven servicemen were injured.

An army statement said the military had been killed in fighting in southern Lebanon.

This brings to 27 the number of Israeli soldiers killed since the start of the operation in Lebanon on September 30.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said yesterday that the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, which has the financial and military support of Tehran, is Lebanon's "biggest defender". from Israel, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.

On September 23, the Israeli army began carrying out intensive airstrikes on the bastions of "Hezbollah" in Lebanon, and from September 30 he launched a ground operation against the Lebanese movement.

"Hezbollah" is the greatest defender of Lebanon and the greatest shield against the greed of the Zionist regime, which has been aiming for Lebanon's disintegration for a long time," the Iranian supreme leader said.

Since the Islamic Republic was established in Iran in 1979, Tehran has made the Palestinian cause one of the pillars of its foreign policy. Iranian leaders do not recognize the State of Israel.

Ayatollah Khamenei's statement is in connection with a statement by "Hezbollah" on Wednesday, confirming the death of Hashem Safieddin, who had been tipped to succeed Hassan Nasrallah as leader of the Shia movement. Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli bombing at the end of last month.

The Israeli military said it had eliminated Hashem Safieddin earlier this month, in a strike near Beirut.

"Hezbollah" managed to "protect Lebanon from the risk of disintegration", Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out.
