A total of 12 European Union member states have requested activation of the national rescue clause of the Stability and Growth Pact.
This is an important additional measure that will allow them to increase their national defense spending, the European Commission announced, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
In a statement, the European Commission indicated that so far Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Slovenia have made a similar request, and more countries are expected to do the same at a later stage.
