The European Union (EU) plans to present its proposals for starting trade talks with the administration of US President Donald Trump next week, Bloomberg reports.
According to the agency, the proposal will contain points on reducing trade barriers, increasing European investment in the US, as well as cooperation with Washington on global challenges, including those related to China's steel production capacity.
The EU's plans, the publication points out, may still undergo changes. The European Commission continues consultations with European countries on this issue.
On April 2, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of tariffs on goods from 185 countries and territories. Universal tariffs of 10% came into effect on April 5, and individual tariffs - on April 9. For all EU countries, the tariffs were 20%. On April 8, Trump noted that US tariffs on imported goods were costing the United States $2 billion a day. The US president said that Washington was in talks with more than 70 countries that wanted to export their goods to the United States.
