After receiving a mandate to form a government, Austrian Freedom Party (AFP) leader Herbert Kickl presented a declaration to the media titled "Honest Governance of Austria". In it, he outlined his intentions for governance and his strategic priorities, quoted by BTA.
At the party headquarters, against the backdrop of the slogan "Responsibility for Austria", Kickl addressed the Austrian people and the media. He noted that it had been a hundred days since the elections in which the APS came in first place, despite attempts by some political forces to change this result and form a government of the losers.
After a meeting of the party leadership, Kickl announced his intention to invite the Austrian People's Party (AWP) to coalition talks. However, he did not spare criticism of its leader Karl Nehammer, who three months ago refused to accept his "outstretched hand", as well as of the newly elected AWP leader, Christian Stocker, one of his recent opponents.
Kickl stressed his desire to pursue a policy based on honesty and transparency, even if this meant taking the more difficult path. His main priority is getting the country out of the economic crisis, for which he is ready to partner with the ANP, but he warned that he will monitor their actions with particular attention.
“I will not allow tricks and games from the coalition partner. If this does not work, we will go to new elections,“ Kickl stated categorically, making it clear that readiness for cooperation goes hand in hand with high demands for consistency and stability.
