Russia has struck critical infrastructure sites in western Ukraine, Ukrainian authorities said today, as quoted by Reuters. The agency notes that these are the latest Russian strikes on Ukraine's power grid in the middle of winter.
The governor of Ukraine's western Lviv region said that the attack damaged two facilities in the Drohobych and Stryi regions.
In neighboring Ivano-Frankivsk region, the governor reported that Ukrainian air defenses were repelling Russian attacks on critical infrastructure there.
Both regional governors reported no casualties or injuries, but did not provide further details.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian energy operator announced emergency power outages in six regions amid warnings from the Ukrainian Air Force of a Russian missile attack during a national air alert.
In addition, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said on social media that "preventive measures" had been introduced, including in the power grid.
