Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a historic agreement on a 100-year security partnership at a meeting in Kiev, Ukrinform reported, BTA reported.
"Today is a truly historic day. Relations between Ukraine and Britain are closer than ever. We have reached a new level - this is more than a strategic partnership. We have signed an agreement on a 100-year partnership," Zelensky noted.
The agreement aims to deepen bilateral relations in the field of defense and outlines continued military assistance to Ukraine.
Earlier, the British government revealed details of the 100-year partnership agreement, describing it as a landmark step in strengthening military cooperation, especially in the field of maritime security. The agreement creates a new framework for strengthening security in the Baltic, Black and Azov seas, aimed at deterring Russian aggression.
The document also envisages cooperation between experts to develop scientific and technological partnerships in areas such as healthcare, agricultural technologies, space exploration and drone technology. It includes educational exchange projects to promote closer ties.
The agreement identifies the UK as a key partner for Ukraine in the energy sector and envisages joint initiatives on strategies for the extraction of critical minerals and "green" steel production.
At Ukraine's request, as part of the agreement, the UK has developed a new system for tracking grain stolen from lands in Russian-occupied territories, which is being rebranded and sold on the international market. A dedicated database developed by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Development will be handed over to Ukraine to support these efforts.
