A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck off the coast of Indonesia's North Maluku province, Reuters reported, citing the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, BTA reported.
The earthquake was at a depth of 81 km, the agency added in a post on the social platform "Ex" and reported that no tsunami threat has been announced. No casualties or damage have been reported so far.
Indonesia is located on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, a highly seismically active zone where different plates of the Earth's crust meet, causing a large number of earthquakes and volcanic activity.
