US President Donald Trump said he is confident in Russian President Vladimir Putin's desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
“I think I can say with great confidence that he Putin wants this conflict to end“, Trump told reporters at the White House after Tulsi Gabbard was sworn in as the new US Director of National Intelligence.
“He doesn't want this to stop temporarily, only to start again in six months“, the American leader added, speaking of the Russian president.
“And we're going to work to end this as quickly as possible. This is a terrible situation,”, the US president stressed. "I think that eventually, at some point, in the not-too-distant future, we're going to have a ceasefire," Trump said.
