Kiev and Europe should not be excluded from future peace talks to end the full-scale war in Ukraine. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga in an interview with Le Monde, Fokus reports.
He stressed that it is in the interest of Ukraine and Europe to work together to end the war in 2025. According to him, peace should not mean a simple cessation of hostilities, and Ukraine cannot be discussed without its participation in these negotiations. "We cannot discuss Ukraine without Ukraine or Europe without Europe", he emphasized.
Sibiga also recalled that Ukraine's membership in NATO remains the most reliable and affordable way for the Alliance to guarantee its own security. At the same time, he said, no compromises should be made during the talks to end the war that would threaten Ukraine's territorial integrity or sovereignty.
Meanwhile, following talks between US Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin on December 12, there were alarming signals about the possibility of Ukraine being excluded from future negotiations. Although Trump has expressed the view that it is unlikely that Ukraine will return to the 2014 borders, he has also stressed that he wants the war to end as soon as possible.
During his visit to Ukraine, US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant confirmed that Donald Trump wants peace, and a future agreement was also announced that would strengthen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States.
However, according to Ukrainian officials, there are serious concerns that the future of Ukrainian territory and its participation in the negotiations will be called into question if a new course in American foreign policy is proposed.
The possibility of Kiev being excluded from the peace process and the position of the West create new challenges for Ukraine, increasing tensions and fears among Ukrainian leaders and European partners.
