The driver of the car who was detained for the Munich attack is a 24-year-old Afghan whose asylum application was rejected, writes the magazine "Spiegel", quoted by BTA.
According to the publication, the suspect was born in Kabul in 2001 and arrived in Germany in 2016. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees rejected his asylum application, but his deportation was later postponed. He was last registered in the Munich district of "Obersendling".
The magazine "Spiegel" also writes that before the crime, the suspect had published Islamist messages on the Internet. A large-scale police operation is currently underway in Munich near the main train station and officers are working to investigate what happened, a police spokesman said, without giving further details.
