Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov said today that Moscow and Washington are about to agree on how to conduct negotiations for a ceasefire in Ukraine, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
"Now the question is to agree on how to start negotiations on Ukraine, since the American side has not yet appointed its own chief negotiator who can work with us," he said.
Ushakov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet in Saudi Arabia tomorrow with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other US representatives.
"We are in a businesslike mood, our tasks are more or less clear," he pointed out Ushakov on the air of the Russian state television "First Channel". According to him, the purpose of the meeting is "to discuss the restoration of normal relations (with the US), the start of possible negotiations on Ukraine and the prospects for contacts at the highest level" between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, added the Kremlin foreign policy adviser.
Ushakov noted that the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, may also participate in tomorrow's talks in Riyadh.
