A plane of the American airline "Delta Airlines" with 80 people on board suffered an accident yesterday while landing in the Canadian city of Toronto. The aircraft overturned on the runway, injuring 15 people, three of whom are in serious condition, reported the Canadian television CBC, quoted by BTA.
The injured plane is a "Bombardier CRJ900" of "Endeavor Air", a subsidiary of "Delta", which was flying from Minneapolis in the US state of Minnesota to Toronto, the largest city in Canada.
"A child was transported to hospital with critical injuries. A man in his 60s and a woman in her 40s were also seriously injured and taken to hospitals, a spokesman for the emergency services, which were dispatched to the scene with three helicopters and two intensive care ambulances, told AFP.
Another 12 people had minor or moderate injuries and were taken to area hospitals, said Lawrence Sandon of the regional emergency services.
Photos from Toronto airport showed the plane upside down on a runway covered in a fine layer of snow.
There were 80 people on board the plane - 76 passengers and 4 crew. All of them have been evacuated and there are no fatalities, confirmed Delta Airlines.
The airport runway is closed for takeoff and landing.
A huge snowstorm hit Eastern Canada on Sunday, and yesterday the region was still covered by strong winds.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Toronto announced that it has organized a crisis headquarters and is monitoring the situation with the plane crash at Pearson Airport in the Canadian city.
