A Russian delegation led by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in the Saudi capital Riyadh, where the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio is already waiting for them.
This was reported by AFP, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio.
"The most important thing is to begin a real normalization of relations between us and Washington," Yuri Ushakov, an adviser to President Vladimir Putin, told a reporter on Russian state television.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview recorded on Saturday but broadcast on Monday that the United States is trying to please Moscow, NOVA reported.
The comment comes after a sharp change in policy towards the war in Ukraine under President Donald Trump.
“Now the United States is saying things that are very favorable to Putin because they want to please him,“ Zelensky stressed, according to a translation provided by broadcaster ARD.
