Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said during an interview with the Turkish TV channel “TRT World“ that the country is ready not only to participate, but also to host peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, the online edition of “Birgun“ reports, quoted by BTA.
“In an ideal world, we would be happy to see the territorial integrity of Ukraine preserved. Unfortunately, because of the war, we are forced to make some difficult decisions,“ said the Turkish Foreign Minister. Fidan said Turkey is ready not only to participate but also to host future peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
Citing his recent meetings with US Secretary of State Mark Rubio, US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg and representatives of the Ukrainian authorities, Fidan said that he believes a plan for peace talks is under development.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is visiting Turkey today and will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan later in the day.
