A large residential area in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa was without heating and electricity this morning after a massive Russian attack in which one person was injured, the city's mayor Gennady Trukhanov said, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.
“As a result of an enemy attack, 14 schools, 13 kindergartens and a large residential area (with over 500 homes) are currently without electricity and heating“, Trukhanov wrote on the “Telegram“ app.
He added that a children's clinic and a kindergarten were “seriously damaged“, and one person was injured and admitted to hospital.
In his message, the mayor of Odessa indicated that he there was a massive Russian attack in a densely populated area, but did not specify what means were used to strike.
Over the past three years, the Russian army has attacked Ukrainian energy and civilian infrastructure and bombed Ukrainian cities and villages, AFP noted.
The new Russian attack came a day after the first Russian-American talks in Saudi Arabia, during which Washington and Moscow agreed to appoint negotiating teams for the war in Ukraine, but without the participation of Kiev and the EU, which condemned the initiative as “for Ukraine without Ukraine“, the agency recalls.
