The US House of Representatives has approved the Republican Party's proposed budget for the country for the fiscal year 2025, which began on October 1st.
The vote in the lower house of the US legislature was broadcast by the C-SPAN television channel.
217 members of the House of Representatives voted in favor of the bill, while 215 were against. Earlier, the budget bill presented in the lower house of Congress was supported by US President Donald Trump. It was also recommended for approval by two House committees.
The Senate had previously approved its own budget bill proposed by Republicans in the upper chamber of the legislature, Politico reported, so lawmakers in both chambers will have to work hard to resolve differences and come up with a common budget that satisfies everyone.
Both chambers of Congress are controlled by Republicans.
The bill approved by the House of Representatives would cut federal government spending by at least $1.5 trillion, out of a $2 trillion goal, and extend tax cuts introduced by Trump during his first term in 2017.
The document also includes a provision to increase defense and border security spending by $300 billion. The budget proposal also includes a provision to raise the U.S. debt ceiling by $4 trillion.
