North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has called for building a strong and modern army capable of handling any war, Reuters reports, reports News.bg.
He visited the Kang Kon military academy, and earlier this week - the Kim Il-sung Political University, another elite institution for training personnel. In his speeches, Kim stressed the importance of military loyalty and sacrifice.
According to South Korean intelligence, the frequent inspections of military units and training institutions may be related to preparations for sending additional troops to Russia.
During his visit to Kang Kon, Kim criticized the management and condition of training facilities, saying they did not meet the ruling party's ambitions for "modernity and progress" in building a powerful army.
He set tasks for renovating bases and strengthening practical training so that students could gain real combat experience and master modern weapons and technologies.
Kim Jong-un stressed that in the face of increased aggression by imperialist forces and increasing violence, North Korea's armed forces must be fully prepared for war.
