A protest by the Romanian far-right opposition Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR) against the government of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and in support of the winner of the first round of the presidential vote, Calin Georgescu, blocked traffic in the center of Bucharest, NOVA reported.
The demonstration was organized just a day after the Romanian parliament rejected a vote of no confidence against the government.
This is the first action in support of Georgescu after criminal prosecution was launched against him on charges of six crimes, including "incitement to act against the constitutional order" and "creation of a fascist organization".
The demonstrators chanted "Georgescu is president" and "Give us back the second round", referring to the cancellation of the presidential elections at the end of 2024, the first round of which was won by him.
The leader of "Vazrazhdane" Kostadin Kostadinov is also in the Romanian capital, and he announced that he was personally invited by Georgescu and will speak at the rally in support of the candidate for president of Romania.
"Our problems are common, our enemies are common, that is why our actions must be common!", Kostadinov wrote on the social network.
