Shmygal: Ukrainian Armed Forces Can Maintain Frontline - 1

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are capable of maintaining the situation on the frontline with Russian forces, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said today, quoted by Reuters, after US President Donald Trump froze military aid to Ukraine, BTA reports.

“We will continue to work with the US calmly and through all possible channels,“ Shmygal said at a press conference.

According to the Ukrainian Prime Minister, the country has enough liquidity for this year under the current conditions. He added that budget revenues in January and February met expectations and allowed the army's needs to be financed.

Shmighal pointed out that, against the backdrop of the freeze on US military aid, there are risks associated with the Patriot air defense systems. He specified that there are risks related to the repair, maintenance and supply of ammunition for the systems, which are the only ones capable of repelling Russian ballistic missile strikes.

Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that, according to information from Poland's southern border, aid to Kiev had indeed been frozen. “A decision was announced to freeze US aid to Ukraine and to possibly begin lifting sanctions against Russia on the American side,“ Tusk said at a government meeting. “The information coming from the border from our center in Jasionka... confirms the announcements from the American side,“ he added.
