Russia has agreed to help the administration of US President Donald Trump in communicating with Iran on various issues, including Tehran's nuclear program and its support for regional proxies opposed to America, Reuters and Bloomberg reported.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that "Russia believes that the United States and Iran should resolve all issues through negotiations" and that Moscow "is ready to do everything in its power to achieve this".
Last month, Trump resumed his "maximum pressure" campaign on Iran, which includes efforts to reduce oil exports to zero in an effort to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Iran denies any such intention.
Russia has deepened its ties with the Islamic republic since the start of the war in Ukraine and in January signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Iran.
