This was stated in the program „This Morning“ on bTV by Radan Kanev, MEP from „Democratic Bulgaria“ from the group of the „European People's Party“ (EPP).
„We are in a completely new world, a completely new situation. Such an international situation, in which the American side actually chooses the side of the aggressor in the conflict in Ukraine and exerts brutal pressure for Ukraine's capitulation – this is something new&rdash;, Kanev also said.
„If we want to continue peace in Europe, we must show that we are ready to continue defending ourselves. A very important thing in the plan of all EU member states is not to buy weapons, but to produce weapons and a security system&rdash;, the MEP was categorical.
And he added that our country has an interest in supplying Europe with shells.
„Armament has always been with the primary goal of securing peace. The unarmed is a victim – this is the reality. We have always been over-armed and over-protected - but how? First of all with the nuclear umbrella and the US military forces stationed in Europe“, he said.
„If we want to continue peace in Europe, we must show that we are ready to continue defending ourselves. It is not about buying, but producing weapons and security systems. In today's world, security starts from space - from satellites, from communications. Here we have a huge competitive advantage - Bulgaria is one of the few European countries with a satellite in geostationary, that is, in the most distant orbit, which we do not use for strategic purposes at all, but we can“, the politician added.
Radan Kanev expressed his support for Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov's position on Ukraine. And he said he hopes GERB leader Boyko Borisov will respect his position, and not revolve around it.
