The execution of a prisoner by shooting was carried out for the first time in 15 years in the US state of South Carolina, the Associated Press reported.
The executed man, 67-year-old Brad Sigman, was sentenced to death for beating his ex-girlfriend's parents to death with a baseball bat in 2021 before trying to kidnap her.
Sigman himself chose this method of execution, preferring shooting to the electric chair or lethal injection.
Sigman's time of death was recorded at 6:08 p.m. local time time.
Since 1967, only three people have been executed in this way in the United States. All three cases were in Utah, the last in 2010.
