Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte "has been handed over to the International Criminal Court (ICC)", a statement from Reuters said.
He will face charges related to the "war on drugs".
The plane carrying Duterte from Manila landed in the Netherlands on Monday, a day after he was arrested on an ICC warrant, which charges him with crimes against humanity over the deadly drug crackdown he waged during his term.
Duterte is due to appear in a preliminary hearing in the coming days, where the court will confirm his identity, check if he understands the charges against him and set a hearing date to determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence to to send him to a full trial.
If his case goes to trial and he is convicted, Duterte, 79, could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
The court did not immediately confirm that Duterte was aboard the arriving plane, which made a stopover in Dubai on its flight from Manila, nor that the former president was already in judicial custody.
