Record high temperatures for the season were measured in Turkey's Black Sea districts, with temperatures in many places reaching over 30 degrees Celsius, Turkish television CNN-Turk reports.
The highest temperature in the country yesterday was measured in the city of Devrek (in the Black Sea district of Zonguldak). According to the General Directorate of Meteorology, the mercury column in Devrek recorded a record 31.4 degrees.
The weather was hot yesterday in a number of other regions of Black Sea Turkey, including the city of Espiye (Giresun district), where 31.2 degrees Celsius was measured, in Çayeli (Rize) - 30.8 degrees, Barton - 30 degrees.
Temperatures in the Black Sea region have been significantly higher than the seasonal norm in recent days. According to experts, the sudden increase in temperatures is likely mainly due to climate change and atmospheric fluctuations.
Over the weekend, the unusual heat is expected to cover many other regions of Turkey, including the capital Ankara, and next week, according to forecasts, winter will return to many parts of the country.
