US President Donald Trump believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin are ready to make a ceasefire agreement, RBC-Ukraine reports.
Aboard the presidential plane ""Air Force 1" en route from Washington to Miami, he told reporters that there has already been significant progress in the talks on Ukraine. Trump also added that Europe has not been able to achieve positive results in its relations with Putin.
"“I think he is ready to make a deal,“ Trump said, referring to Volodymyr Zelensky. He said he had spoken to him "not long ago."
"And I think President Putin is ready to make a deal," Trump added.
When asked about Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev's visit to the United States, Trump said he was not talking about specific people.
"I'll just tell you that there are very good talks going on about Ukraine and Russia," he said.
Negotiations to end the war
In March, the United States held a series of meetings with delegations from Ukraine and Russia. The United States brokered the ceasefire talks and proposed a 30-day ceasefire.
Russia also issued a statement. However, his version included a number of conditions for a truce with Ukraine by sea.
Today, the United Kingdom and France accused Vladimir Putin of delaying ceasefire talks to end the fighting in Ukraine.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov recently said that his country "cannot accept" the US proposal to end the war against Ukraine.
