“The US threat to raise tariffs on China is a repeated mistake, which once again reveals the blackmailing nature of the US side, which China will never accept“, said a statement from the Commerce Department, published in connection with Trump's threats to impose a 50% tariff on imports from China.
It is specified that if the US "insists on its way", China will be forced to oppose them "to the very end". The Commerce Department called the new U.S. tariffs “unilateral bullying” and said Beijing would take countermeasures to safeguard its sovereignty, security and national development interests and maintain the “normal order of international trade.”
"China reiterates that there are no winners in a trade war and that there is no way out of protectionism," the statement said. "Pressure and threats are the wrong way to deal with China. We urge the U.S. to immediately correct its wrong measures, lift all unilateral tariffs against China, and stop the economic and trade suppression of our country."
