US President Donald Trump has stopped a planned Israeli strike on nuclear sites in Iran, the American newspaper "New York Times" wrote, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
The agency adds that according to the publication's information, the American head of state acted at the expense of negotiations for a deal with Tehran to limit Iran's nuclear program.
"The New York Times" refers to officials in the US government.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the Israeli team of negotiators for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip "to continue efforts" to obtain guarantees that the hostages still being held by the radical Palestinian group "Hamas" in the enclave will be released, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA, citing a press release from the prime minister's office.
"Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting tonight on the hostage issue with the negotiating team and senior security officials," the statement said.
"The prime minister instructed that efforts should continue to expedite the release of the hostages," Netanyahu's office added in a statement.
Meanwhile, a Hamas representative told AFP that the movement was still preparing its response to the Israeli ceasefire proposal.
