The US wants to sign a trade deal with Britain in the coming weeks, the Daily Telegraph reported, citing a White House source.

According to his information, Washington will sign a trade deal with London "in the near future". "In two weeks. Or maybe in three", the source specified.

It is also reported that the United Kingdom will be among the second group of countries to conclude deals with the United States. First of all, as the newspaper specifies, agreements are expected between the US and India, South Korea and Japan.

In an interview with Sky News in early April, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed hope for a new trade agreement with the US, adding that he did not want to take hasty retaliatory measures against Washington's tariffs.

Later, however, the British government introduced countermeasures. The list of retaliatory duties covers 400 pages. It includes agricultural products, seafood, dairy products, chemical products, cosmetics, fertilizers, paints, building materials, all types of cars and spare parts, construction and household equipment, as well as consumer goods.
