Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Oman today for the third round of indirect talks with the US on Tehran's nuclear program, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reports.
The talks are scheduled for tomorrow in the capital Muscat. The Iranian side expressed hope for progress, provided that the United States demonstrates "goodwill, seriousness and realism".
The Iranian news agency Mehr broadcast a video showing Araghchi disembarking from an Iranian government plane upon arrival in Muscat. According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai, Araghchi is leading a delegation of diplomats and technical experts.
The US side will be represented by President Donald Trump's special envoy – Steve Witkoff, who has already participated in the previous two rounds of talks: on April 12 in Muscat and on April 19 in Rome. Both meetings were described as constructive by Tehran and Washington.
The current third round will include both main diplomatic negotiations and parallel technical talks focused on aspects of Iran's nuclear program.
The US technical team will be led by Michael Anton, who is responsible for policy planning at the State Department. On the Iranian side, the negotiations will be led by Deputy Foreign Ministers Kazem Gharib Abadi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the Tasnim news agency reported.
