Yemeni Houthis attacked the US aircraft carrier "Harry Truman", located in the Red Sea, with drones, the rebels' military spokesman Yahya Sariyah announced.
„In response to the ongoing daily US aggression against our country, the air force and navy conducted a joint operation against enemy warships led by the US aircraft carrier "Harry Truman". "They were attacked in the northern Red Sea using several drones," the movement's spokesman told the Houthi-owned Al-Masirah TV channel.
He added that the rebel forces were ready to "respond to the escalation by the United States with similar measures."
"Military operations in the Red and Arabian Seas will continue until the aggression against Gaza ends and the blockade is lifted," Sariya added.
After the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip in 2023 Yemeni rebels have warned that they will shell Israeli territory and prevent ships bound for Tel Aviv from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
The attacks stopped after a ceasefire was announced in the Palestinian enclave in mid-January this year, but after the truce collapsed in early March, the rebels announced that they had resumed attacks on Israeli ships in the Red Sea and then began again to try to attack targets in the Jewish state with missiles.
