Renault is preparing to launch several low-cost electric cars. However, the new models will become even more affordable. This can be achieved thanks to significant cost savings in production.
The details of this cost reduction are related to Renault working on the next generation of electric models. The new architecture is expected to reduce production costs by as much as 40%.
The new platform should include a range of state-of-the-art technologies. Special emphasis will be placed on energy efficiency with consumption below 12 kWh per 100 kilometers of mileage.
This means that to cover a relatively comfortable 300 km trip, the electric car will need a compact battery with a capacity of less than 40 kWh. The Directorate does not say who will produce the new batteries.
In addition, the company will offer more modern electric motors. Engineers will also pay special attention to other components, including aerodynamics, which will contribute to energy efficiency.
It is also important that with the new architecture, Renault cars will be able to compete on price with Chinese electric cars. It is known that manufacturers from China put the low price of the car in the first place.
However, the Chinese turn a blind eye to quality, but at Renault things will be different - low price and high quality. New Renault models are expected by 2028. These will be C-class cars the size of the VW Golf, and for crossovers – of Toyota RAV4.
