The Toyota Hilux and Tacoma pickup trucks will soon get a younger brother. The compact model should be introduced in 2027, and this has already been finally decided. Otherwise, information about the new Toyota pickup has been circulating for a long time. Now it has become known that it will be produced in Brazil in order to reduce costs.

The car will challenge cars such as the Ford Maverick, Hyundai Santa Cruz and Chevrolet Montana. Like its competitors, the pickup truck will not be on a frame - it will be built on the TNGA platform, which is used by the Toyota RAV4 crossover.

The new Toyota will be the production version of the 2023 EPU concept. The pickup truck will feature an aggressive, choppy design with a high hood, thick rear fenders and narrow headlights. The car will be more compact than frame pickups: its length, however, will still reach 5 meters, and the wheelbase will be 3.3 meters.

It is also expected that hybrid powertrains based on 2.5-liter engines will be borrowed from the Toyota RAV4. As you know, the crossover is offered in electrified versions with a capacity of 222 and 306 hp. It is noteworthy that the pickup truck will be able to use not only gasoline, but also ethanol as fuel.
