It became known when sales of the Moskvich 8 will begin. The Moscow plant "Moskvich" is preparing the fourth model - a crossover with an index of 8, which will become the largest in the current model line.
The new product was expected to appear on the Russian market before the end of this year, but now a new deadline has been announced - February 2025. This is reported by TASS with reference to the brand's press service.
The press office also reported that the plant is ready to begin serial production of the Moskvich 8 “as early as February“ next year, and sales start immediately.
“Moskvich 8” is a seven-seater crossover, which in the line of the revived brand will join the smaller crossovers Moskvich 3 and Moskvich 3e, as well as the liftback Moskvich 6. Like the other models of the brand, the new 8 is an analogue of the Chinese model from JAC. Specifically, the X8 Plus.
This will be the largest Moskvich model: it reaches 4.82 meters in length, 1.87 meters in width and 1.76 meters in height with a wheelbase of 2.83 meters. The cabin has a digital dashboard and a 12.3-inch multimedia system screen, a compartment for wireless charging, etc. The equipment also includes all-round cameras.
The new Moskvich is powered by a 1.5-liter engine with a capacity of 174 horsepower (300 Nm) - 10 horsepower less than that of the Chinese donor. It is paired with a robotic transmission and has only front-wheel drive.
The price, according to preliminary data, will start at 2.8 million rubles, which at the current exchange rate is just over 26,000 euros. Dealers expect the “eight“ to become the second most popular “Moskvich“ after the ICE crossover and the number 3.
