Despite a complete refresh just two years ago, Mercedes-Benz is once again updating its mid-size SUV GLE, suggesting a rapid evolution of the brand's design language. The move underscores the relentless pace of competition in the premium SUV segment, where maintaining a current look is paramount.
The previous GLE update brought significant advancements in the powertrain area, including mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, along with chassis improvements such as standard-fitted air suspension and the latest MBUX infotainment system. Now the focus is shifting to a more pronounced visual refresh.
Spy shots by AutoExpress reveal a simplified front bumper design, updated headlights and a potentially revised grille, while retaining the visible Mercedes three-pointed star. The new headlights, featuring the three-pointed star's light signature, are a clear hint at the upcoming Mercedes CLA, suggesting a unified design language across the brand's entire lineup. Similar changes appear to have been applied to the rear of the car, including revised taillights with a new light signature.
The high-performance AMG GLE variant was also spotted during testing, easily distinguishable by its aggressive front bumper, Panamericana grille, red brake calipers, quad exhaust tips, and subtle rear diffuser.
