After Bulgaria officially switches to the euro, the exchange of levs into the single European currency will also take place at all stations of the “Bulgarian Post”. the government decided at its last meeting. This will take place half a year after the official admission of our country to the Eurozone.
The exchange will be at the official rate of BGN 1.95583 per euro in the amount of up to BGN 1000 per day per person. For amounts from BGN 1,000 to BGN 10,000 per day, a prior request will be required, and only at certain post offices.
By enabling the exchange of money in post offices, an easy and affordable way to exchange banknotes and coins will be provided in settlements where there are no offices or branches of a credit institution. This is one of the stated reasons for the decision.
„Bulgarian Post“ has over 2,700 offices, including in hard-to-reach areas. They serve 5.6 million Bulgarians. 1,921 of the stations are located in small towns with a total population of over 1.4 million inhabitants.
