China is ahead of the US in a number of areas and the balance of power will continue to shift towards Beijing unless Washington did not act. This is stated in the report of the Commission on National Defense Strategy, published by the RAND think tank.
„In many ways, China is ahead of the US and has largely eroded US military advantage in the Western Pacific through two decades of targeted military investment. Without significant changes on the part of the United States, the balance of power will continue to shift in favor of China”, the report notes.
The authors of the document also believe that Russia “has significant strategic, space and cyber potential”. They also claim that under current leadership, Russia is "seeking to return to its role as a Cold War-era world leader.
