Gas reserves in underground gas storage (UGS) in France, which is among the top five European countries in terms of storage capacity, have fallen below 35%, according to data from Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).

As of February 2, France's underground gas storage facilities were 34.86% full and contained about 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas.

Other leading countries in gas storage capacity are also actively using up the accumulated fuel. UGS facilities in Germany are filled to 54.44%, in Austria to 62%, in Italy to 62.52%, and in the Netherlands to 36.48%.

Storage facilities in Slovakia are full to 59.57%, in Hungary - 55.58%, in the Czech Republic - 51.41%, in Romania - 44.64%, in Bulgaria - 54.03%, in Belgium - 40.99%, Denmark - 45.11%, Latvia - 55.5%, Croatia - 35.18%.

The highest level of storage capacity in Europe is currently observed in Portugal (98.14%). Also among the leaders in terms of reserves are Sweden (88.05%), Spain (71.57%) and Poland (67.42%).

According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, gas reserves in underground gas storage (UGS) in Europe have fallen to a level of around 52.5%, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE). However, gas volumes in underground gas storage remain the fourth highest on record for the beginning of February. Since the start of the heating season, the EU has withdrawn over 50 billion cubic meters from underground gas storage.
