The company behind the AI chatbot ChatGPT could release a new update to GPT-4.5 next week, reported The Verge columnist Tom Warren, citing a source at Microsoft Corporation.
OpenAI's main investor, technology giant Microsoft, is preparing its servers for the launch of the GPT-4.5 update, which will likely happen in the last week of February. It is also reported that the next-generation GPT-5 model could be released as early as the end of May 2025.
Earlier, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that the upcoming update to GPT-4.5, previously called Orion, will be the last model to work without deep learning technology. At the same time, the future generation of GPT-5 will already begin to combine the deep learning technology used in the o3 model, so that users do not have to switch between models. GPT-5 will also support voice chat, collaborative document editing, online information search and an AI agent, and will be free for all users.
