Trump Wants to Rebuild Global Trading System - 1

US President Donald Trump is seeking to change global trade so that the system benefits American citizens.

„This is what President Trump is looking for - to fundamentally reshape the global trading environment so that America is no longer robbed and our people can enjoy prosperity and security. „And tariffs are a key tool to move in that direction“, the head of state's senior advisor on trade and manufacturing Peter Navarro told The Daily Caller.

He specified that Trump "definitely" has a vision of returning the country to the days before the income tax, when the government was funded mostly by taxes. Navarro cited another reason for the White House tariffs as a desire to address the problem of fentanyl smuggling into the United States from China, Mexico and Canada. On February 1, Trump signed an executive order imposing higher tariffs on goods from Canada, China and Mexico. A 10% tariff on imports from China took effect on February 4, while tariffs on Canadian and Mexican products were delayed for a month pending negotiations with the governments of those countries. On February 10, China retaliated by imposing an additional 15% tariff on imports of coal and liquefied natural gas from the United States. On diesel fuel, farm equipment, large vehicles and pickup trucks - at a rate of 10%. On February 10, Trump ordered the introduction of 25% tariffs on all foreign steel and aluminum shipments to the United States. They are expected to take effect on March 12. The decision applies to supplies from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, Mexico, South Korea and Japan.
