The Russian Ministry of Transport is working to resume regular coastal sea traffic on the Black Sea in the current navigation year together with regional authorities and business representatives, the ministry announced after a meeting between Transport Minister Roman Starovoit.
“The resumption of regular sea traffic on the Black Sea in the 2025 navigation season is being developed with the participation of regional authorities and business representatives“, the statement said.
As the Russian Ministry of Transport notes, high-speed sea passenger transportation in the Azov-Black Sea basin was previously organized on the instructions of the president. They were in demand in 2024: on the Sochi-Anapa-Sochi line, the ship "Yalta" From June 9 to July 24, more than 5 thousand people were transported. And from May to October, about 30,000 passengers used the "Sevastopol" Novorossiysk - Gelendzhik - Sochi line.
In addition, the meeting discussed the possibility of resuming the direct air route with Baikonur.
"The main issue that needs to be resolved remains the lack of asphalt road surface on the 7-kilometer section of the Shaumyan Pass through the Main Caucasus Range," the ministry added.
