How does he view the demonstration by the employees of the Ministry of the Interior, which was entirely in defense of Kalin Stoyanov remaining as minister. What kind of political opponent is Delyan Peevski… Tsvetan Tsvetanov, leader of the "Republicans for Bulgaria" PP spoke to FAKTI.
- Mr. Tsvetanov, do you remember the date May 30, 2013 and what happened then in the parliament?
- I remember the whole month of May well. Let me recall about May 11 - the day for reflection, when the Kostinbrod Affair was made, which influenced the election process, which was on May 12. This gave an opportunity to elect the government of Plamen Oresharski on May 29 with the votes of BSP, DPS and the “golden finger” of Volen Siderov. Then on May 30, very heavy emotional accusations were made – groundless, of course, from Delyan Peevski to me, who predicted what would happen to me in the next hours and the cases that would be started against me. What he announced publicly from the parliamentary rostrum happened only two hours later, when prosecutors and tax officials were already in the office doing their checks. Three accusations were brought against me, which of course, would no doubt end without any result, but this, very unfortunately, was the beginning of the capture of the state by the institutions that were obligingly serving the WHO model.
- That is exactly why I bring you back to this date. What kind of political opponent is Delyan Peevski?
- At that moment, in some form, he presented himself as the inevitable factor in the formation of Plamen Oresharski's government. Then, as we remember, he was proposed as the head of DANS. Civil society then protested, but then it was given as an opportunity for Peevski to increase his influence. We remember what happened in 2014 with KTB. When you already have the economic and institutional control over the processes in the state, you already become an extremely dangerous and serious political entity. It also means that anyone who has worked with him in recent years in parliament or supported the executive in any way with him should know that things can be brought against him that he doesn't even suspect . We need those who are in the parliament today – especially in the last three or four years, to be careful.
- Then – in 2013, Delyan Peevski was an MP, and today he is co-chairman of the DPS. It was designated a “phenomenon“ by Ahmed Dogan, and today they are enemies. What kind of political evolution is this?
- To this question, with this particularity, it is better to be answered by the honorary chairman of DPS Ahmed Dogan, because he himself over the years has given this opportunity to Delyan Peevski to represent DPS, and perhaps for the most part personally on his behalf. We have observed this over time. When KTB was already declared bankrupt, processes began to take control of many economic activities. Regarding the co-president Delyan Peevski, without the support of Ahmed Dogan and the DPS, he would not be what he is today.
- Let's move to the present day. Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov is again “the apple of discord” whether he will remain in Gorica Grancharova's office – Kozhareva. Kiril Petkov said that he is the minister of traffic police. Why is it important to have an interior minister during elections?
- I will go back to 2013 and the Kostinbrod affair, because that is exactly what was proven. At that time, certain forces still had no control over the Ministry of the Interior, because there was an office of Marin Raykov, but with their actions they managed to control the Ministry of the Interior. It was then that the security system began to take hold. We remember how operational structural units in the Ministry of Internal Affairs were closed and transferred to the National Security Service. Let us recall the influence in the processes that were controlled and carried out by Tsvetlin Yovchev and Vladimir Pisanchev at that time. Today, the Ministry of the Interior already plays a key role in some elections due to the lack of the necessary prevention and security, which must be guaranteed by the electoral process.
And that is exactly why today “the apple of discord” is Kalin Stoyanov.
Let us think in the last year and a half about the things that happened under his administration. And most simply we will see that today our country needs peace, and this cannot be guaranteed by the work of Kalin Stoyanov as interior minister. I believe that now the new nomination for acting prime minister in the person of Gorica Grancharova-Kozhareva will make a sober assessment and will be able to calm down the future political process of holding early elections.
- If Kalin Stoyanov stays, PP-DB will attack the acting prime minister, if he does not stay, Peevski's DPS will attack the acting prime minister. There will be no satisfied ones. What exit is there…
- In your question itself, it is clear how unsustainable the Constitutional changes that were implemented a few months ago were. These changes made it so that no one took responsibility. Nor is political responsibility sought from those who nominate the prime minister and then the ministers.
Nobody bears the political responsibility.
And the president is already freed from this responsibility, and so are the political parties, and we are only witnessing political interpretations that I think are unhealthy. What I think is good at the moment is that it is most correct to actually have a new acting Minister of the Interior, and that way the system itself will be calmed down. We see how the professional leadership and a large part of the professionals in the Ministry of the Interior are under constant stress from the Minister of the Interior.
- We also saw an action by employees of the Ministry of the Interior, who came out in support of Kalin Stoyanov, because he was dialogical and finally there was someone with whom they could discuss the problems…
- The protest actions of the employees of the Ministry of the Interior are very clearly spelled out in the law on the Ministry of the Interior and they can be in the social, economic sphere, in order to have better working conditions. So that the leadership of the ministry can ensure the conduct of some normal procedures and thus overcome all these deficits that exist in the system. Let me remind you that in recent years we have not seen any management program, no report of any management program.
I will only give as an example the protective clothing of the Bulgarian firefighters, which are from 2012, when the last procedures for the purchase of such equipment were completed.
At the moment we do not have and no such renewal procedure has been carried out. The other thing that is good to remember is the case of a few days ago when a child killed his father with his service pistol, let's remember the chases with the production of shots by officers of the Ministry of the Interior, the football hooliganism that was in front of the National Stadium “ Vasil Levski“, when many people suffered. Have we heard of any effectiveness in joint international operations or that there was a leading role of Bulgaria at the local level in countering large criminal groups that are of great importance for the stability of the region as a whole. Something like that we have heard…
