Embassy of the United Arab Emirates emirates in Sofia organized a reception on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the establishment of the Union of Emirates in the presence of many government, political, academic, parliamentary and public figures.
His Excellency Ambassador Abdul Rahman Ahmed Al Jaber, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Bulgaria, pointed out in his speech to those present that the role of the UAE in the system of international relations is marked by continuous development thanks to the excellent relations it has with most countries in the world.
In this connection, the close relations between the UAE and the Republic of Bulgaria were indicated, as well as the visit of President Rumen Radev to Abu Dhabi in September 2022, which was connected with the signing of many agreements, among which the strategic partnership arrangements. The visit contributed to strengthening bilateral relations in all areas.
Today, relations are marked by growth and development, which led to the signing of the largest investment agreement by the UAE Telecommunications Company for the purchase of 51% of the shares of the Bulgarian telecommunications company Yettel.
The transformation of the UAE into a tourist destination for thousands of Bulgarian tourists has led to an increase in the number of flights, which are now up to 10 flights per week with Flydubai and Wizz Air. In addition, from March 31, 2025 there will be 3 direct flights per week between the capital Abu Dhabi and the city of Varna, and nearly 7,000 citizens working and residing in the UAE represent the largest Bulgarian community in the Middle East.
With its role, the UAE has emerged as one of the most effective countries in responding to global humanitarian crises. Since 1971 humanitarian aid reached 206 countries on 6 continents for a total of US$97 billion. UAE diplomacy has also been successful in nine prisoner-of-war exchanges between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine, involving 2,184 prisoners, reflecting the UAE's confidence as a reliable international mediator for both countries.
