The situation is almost hopeless from the point of view of having a regular government - they have brought it to the point where everyone is against everyone.
This opinion was expressed to the Bulgarian National Radio by political scientist Assoc. Prof. Petar Cholakov.
"What we have as a party group in the 51st parliament once again shows us an exhaustion of the party system. What has been presented in the National Assembly is, once again, incapable, it seems with a high degree of probability, of leading to the cherished goal - to form a government", he commented.
The political scientist is not sure to what extent the political forces represented in parliament are listening to the president's opinion. "I don't know what his ability is to influence their behavior - to discipline them a little so that they tighten up before the holidays and form a regular government", he pointed out in an interview for the program "Predi vzby".
According to him, there is no point in the president delaying the handing over of the first mandate. "He will drive as fast as possible. There is no point in procrastinating", Cholakov believes and added: "After the Speaker of the National Assembly was elected with such force, I am quite pessimistic that a regular government will be elected".
If a government is not formed during the first term, we can congratulate ourselves on the new early parliamentary elections, expressed his opinion Petar Cholakov.
In his words, the political forces have completely entangled themselves - like a duck in a tangle. According to him, they have no useful move. If the PP-DB governs again with GERB, the voters will accuse them of unprincipledness, he warned, noting the internal contradictions in the coalition.
"There is tension on all fronts. I do not see a useful move in this situation".
The political scientist also noted the situation surrounding the Prosecutor General. According to him, the battle between Borislav Sarafov and PP-DB is based on the principle of "the empire strikes back".
He reminded that the anti-corruption commission removed Andrey Gyurov as deputy governor of the Bulgarian National Bank due to a conflict of interest, and yesterday the court reinstated him. According to him, the case with Kiril Petkov is very similar:
"There the prosecutor's office raises the issue of things from 3 years ago. On the principle - if you bother us, we will bother you too. In the end, nothing will come of this".
The political scientist also commented on the likelihood of President Rumen Radev entering politics. According to him, if he wanted this to happen, it would have already happened. But:
"We have such an exhaustion of the party and political system and to such an extent has the voters' distrust in the parties and the electoral process grown that one should not underestimate what a figure who enjoys the highest public trust like President Radev can do".
