There are individuals who do not agree with our participation in the government. These individuals are very noisy – they preferred to continue with confrontation and isolation. For 4 years we have been going from crisis to crisis; the political crisis has become economic, social, spiritual, even of family values. People are disillusioned. If we had not entered this government, we would now be heading for new elections. This was stated by Dragomir Stoynev, chairman of the BSP PG – United Left, on bTV.
„We at the BSP are aware that we should have reached a hand and stopped the isolation and confrontation, because so far with this policy we have reached the bottom. It is easy to shout, to spit on your opponent, but we see who the voters are choosing. All our voters are exhausted from elections. Of course, there are risks in our participation in government. Young politicians saw that GERB can be negotiated with and believe that this timelessness cannot continue“, he commented.
“I have been nominated for chairman of the BSP, but I will not participate in the overdrive. Ultimately, I believe that the captain should be someone else. This is decided by the Congress. The direct election of the chairman is decided by the Congress and the delegates. I currently have my opinion, but I will not say it, because that would mislead a large part of the delegates. We need to elect a person who is firmly on the ground, who can talk, who is connected to the past, but who is brave enough to act in the future“, Stoynev believes.

He emphasized that the BSP has a congressional decision of the Congress on the eurozone and it is positive: “But we believe that there are problems and that is why it can wait. I understand GERB's desire to enter the eurozone as quickly as possible, but we still don't have a good communication campaign with which to explain to people what the pros and cons are. The big culprit here is the BNB, it should have prepared a report with the pros and cons of the eurozone. So there are political forces that scare people.“
“And right now we are connected to the euro. When they say that we have lost sovereignty - we have lost it a long time ago. If the currency board falls tomorrow, everyone will go to the exchange offices because they have no confidence in the Bulgarian lev. This confidence is based on the currency board. We should not look at whether we meet the inflation criterion in one month - it should be a constant value. Bulgaria's path is set to be towards the eurozone. There is nothing scary in the eurozone, the question is whether we meet the conditions“, he also said.
He is categorical that there is no higher priority than preparing a new budget that will calm passions and inspire confidence in investors both abroad and at home.
“The government itself is careful about appointments in the second echelon. It is going step by step. There will be a budget management council tomorrow, and on Friday possibly a second one for the appointment of deputy ministers“, he also said.
Regarding the appointment of former Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov as executive director of “Bulgartransgaz“, Stoynev emphasized: “The decision is made by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, I personally do not approve when ministers again take up positions in individual energy companies – it is not normal for such a practice to exist.“
